“30 Years After,” marks the rebirth of artist, Jim Wagner, based in Middletown, Ohio.  As artists sometimes choose, he placed his canvas and paint brush aside for a career in corporate sales.  He married, raised a daughter, worked 60-70 hours a week, and slowly realized something was missing.   Objects starting becoming shapes, forms, lines, and color which made Jim feel alive.  He began shooting photographs to study and over a time picked up a paint brush and started making artwork.  Jim Wagner said, “I was starting to us all my senses. I was alive once more, a human being learning and feeling.”

Jim’s pieces are rich with bold color fields painted with fierce movement and elegance.  Thick lines depict human forms of corporate men and his daughter dancing across the canvas.  The shapes, color, and line show influences from artists, De Kooning, Jim Dine, and Rauschenberg.  Other influences range from his family life, corporate America, the Native American glyph symbol, and children’s artwork.  He strongly believes that everything in his life has a direct influence on his artwork.

“30 Years After,” is an intense show of strong opinions developed over 30 years.  There’s passion and vibrant life in every piece of the show.
